What Is a Spiritual Bath & What Are Its Benefits?

If you have never taken a spiritual bath, you are in for a de-stressing treat. But what is a spiritual bath? When most people think about a bath, they think of relaxing in a tub of warm water—an escape from daily events and a time to relax.

The main benefit is that it is good for the soul. A spiritual bath is similar, but it is set with intention and has added elements to it.

What Is a Spiritual Bath?

Spiritual baths have been used throughout mankind’s history. The idea is to cleanse the mind, body, spirit, and soul.

A spiritual bath adds an element of intention and healing. It refreshes the body and heals the soul.

The Benefits of Taking a Spiritual Bath

There are many benefits to taking a spiritual bath, and foremost, water is energetically healing. Humans have always had a spiritual connection to water.

Have you ever wondered why you get so many great ideas in the shower? Water allows us to connect to our subconscious and higher self. The energy and flow of water relax the conscious self and make it easier to tap into our intuition.

Another added benefit is that it can detox the body.

Emotional and Energetic Cleansing

Water can wash away our troubles and calm our emotional state, bringing us back into balance. Removing heavy energies that attach to us begins to cleanse the soul and heal the body.

Strengthening Spiritual Connection and Inner Peace

Spiritual baths not only strengthen our spiritual connections, but they can also manifest inner peace as they cleanse us.

As you step into your spiritual bath, you step into healing, calm, peace, and renewal.

How to Take a Spiritual Bath

There is no wrong way to take a spiritual bath, but the first step is cleaning and removing the bathroom clutter, including your kiddos’ rubber duckies. In other words, clean your living space and clear your home to remove any negative or heavy energies.

You may want to do this the day before so that you can enjoy the experience.

Allow yourself enough time, at least 30-60 minutes. Don’t rush the process. When you finish and drain the bathtub, you are also draining the negative energies that may have been attached to you.

Choosing the Right Ingredients and Setting Intentions

Epsom salts are a key ingredient to any bath. This salt is really magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, a mineral compound that contains seven molecules of water per molecule of magnesium sulfate, this molecular make up is what makes it a hydrated salt.

Magnesium is an essential electrolyte which helps to relax the muscles and aids in reducing inflammation.

The intention you set is determined by you and only you. The intention could be as simple as allowing yourself the time and space to be present and relax. There are many intentions you could choose, such as setting intentions for release, healing, and anything else you seek.

Choosing the right ingredients is critical*. Avoid anything with pesticides, artificial chemicals, or smells. Use ONLY pure natural ingredients. Those fancy soaps and bath bombs from the mall are a hard no.

Our skin is our largest organ and is very porous, meaning it will absorb what we put into our water. Synthetic fragrances contain endocrine disruptors, meaning these man-made chemicals will mimic and interfere with our body’s hormonal systems, causing weight gain, reproductive issues, allergic reactions and a lot more.

Many of these ingredients are banned in most countries but not in the United States.

How Often Should You Take a Spiritual Bath?

How often? As often as you like or when you feel like you need it.

Enhancing the Spiritual Bath Experience

Take your spiritual bath to the next level by thinking ahead and preparing the ambiance that you want. Say a prayer or a mantra as you get into the tub.

Incorporating Crystals, Herbs, and Essential Oils

Crystals & Oil

Bring in what lifts your soul. It could be crystals, candles, dried herbs (in a muslin type of bag so you don’t clog your drain), salts, music, soap or bubbles, even a good book.

Add your favorite essential oils. Just be cautious you aren’t so slicked up that you slip and fall and need to call 911 because that would totally ruin the experience.
